To explain to the outsider why Asterix suddenly can be considered as a standard dachshund instead of a dwarf, you have to take a look at the quidelines laid out in the FCI standard. The int. standard dictates that a dwarf may NOT exeed 35 cm around the chest, and despite heavy dieting Asterix was measured to having a chest of 37 cm. The result is that Asterix is considered as a standard, and that we shouldn't expect him to win big at shows.
Fortunately it also means that we don't have to put him on a strict diet before shows, and as you may have noticed, he's still bringing in 1st prizes. So all in all we're quite satisfied with the development.
